Partnerships and collaboration are at the heart of what Cheapside BID do, which is why we’re proud to continue partnering with the London Festival of Architecture (LFA).
So far, we’ve sponsored the LFA to deliver engaging public realm installations such as the City Benches and the Mobile Arboretum, all with the goal of adding to the vibrancy of Cheapside and reinforcing our status as a unique, welcoming destination.
The City Benches project invites students, emerging architects, and designers to draw up proposals for a series of one-off benches that will enhance the public realm and visitor experience within Cheapside. Installed across multiple Cheapside locations, the City Benches have become a firm favourite amongst residents, local workers, and visitors, with hundreds of people engaging with the unique designs throughout the summer months.
2022/23 saw a slight change to the LFA partnership, with the introduction of the Mobile Arboretum. This installation focused on greenery and seating, creating a unique pop-up space for relaxation. Inspired by Cheapside’s rich market history, the arboretum was well received by visitors and local businesses, with many asking for its return next year!
