The City of London Corporation is hosting a webinar to introduce forthcoming changes to non-domestic building energy performance requirements and what they could mean for buildings across the Square Mile.
The Square Mile has a target to reach net zero by 2040 and improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings will play a critical role in achieving this ambition. At the same time, proposed changes to Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) are expected to increase energy performance requirements for many non-domestic buildings in the coming years.
The Corporation is exploring how it can best support building owners, occupiers and the wider property market to improve building performance and prepare for future requirements. This webinar forms part of an engagement programme designed to gather views from those responsible for managing, investing in, occupying and advising on buildings across the Square Mile.
This webinar will provide an overview of the policy context, explain the latest proposed changes to non-domestic MEES, and offer attendees an opportunity to share initial views and ask questions. It will also introduce a follow-up in-person workshop where stakeholders can help shape future support and engagement activities.
This session will cover:
- The latest proposals for non-domestic Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
- What the proposed changes could mean for Square Mile buildings
- Discussion and Q&A
- Details of a follow-up stakeholder workshop and opportunities for further engagement
