Discover the history behind a Christmas classic!
Join us on Saturday 5th December from 2.00-3.00pm or Wednesday 9th December from 12.30-1.30pm and follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens on a festive stroll through the City’s historic streets and alleyways.
Led by expert guide Sarah Williams-Robbins, better known as ‘Mrs Londoner’, you’ll discover the locations and themes behind Dickens’s 1843 classic A Christmas Carol, from Cornhill and its echoes of Christmases past to a charming marketplace once filled with Victorian shoppers. You’ll also hear about the real-life philanthropist who may have inspired Scrooge.
The tour finishes with a wander through the cobbled streets and Christmas lights of Bow Lane, and might even end in a historic City pub for a well-earned festive toast.
