Working Together on Homelessness: Awareness, Action, Impact

6 October 2026

Cheapside Business Alliance and Aldgate Connect BID are proud to host ‘Working Together on Homelessness: Awareness, Action, Impact’, a panel event in support of Homelessness Awareness Week.

Delivered in partnership with key stakeholders and partner charities, including Providence Row, Toynbee Hall, Thames Reach, City of London Corporation and London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the event is bringing together business and community leaders to explore the key challenges surrounding homelessness in Cheapside and Aldgate, and what organisations and individuals can do to help.

Please use the links below to find out more and support the organisations represented at the event:

Providence Row

Providence Row has been tackling the root causes of homelessness in East London since 1860. Now in their 166th year, they continue to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community—those experiencing or at risk of homelessness—through a holistic, person-centred approach that combines crisis relief with long-term recovery.

Toynbee Hall

Toynbee Hall works alongside people facing poverty and injustice to build a fairer and happier East London. Based in the East End of London since 1884, they are a charity that provides vital support and works in partnership with local communities to tackle unfairness and ensure everyone has an equal chance to thrive.

Thames Reach

Thames Reach is a leading London homelessness charity supporting vulnerable people across London. Whatever someone’s background or situation, they’re here to help those most in need.

City of London Corporation

The City Corporation works year-round helping rough sleepers into accommodation. Thames Reach and St Mungo’s, their commissioned outreach services, are on the streets looking out for rough sleepers every day to offer emergency accommodation and support.

London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets Council works with a range of partners including homelessness charities, specialist substance misuse, mental health organisations, and community groups to ensure people who are rough sleeping are provided with appropriate support, and an offer of a route off the streets.

In addition to the above, there are a wide variety of charities and community organisations throughout the City who exist to support those affected by homelessness. As part of our commitment to address this issue, and support those in our business community who wish to do the same, we’ve included a directory of some of these charities below:

Centrepoint

Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity. Alongside their partners, they support over 15,000 young people every year and campaign to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Crisis

Crisis are the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. They help people out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.

Hestia Life Beyond Crisis

Hestia has a longstanding history of supporting people across London who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Their services aim to empower and enable people to maintain occupancy of their own home and within their communities, maintaining as much independence as possible.

St. Mungo’s

St Mungo’s has been on the frontline of homelessness for 55 years, helping people to move forward with their lives. Their frontline teams are out on the streets, every day and night, looking for the people who urgently need their help.

We hope this event provides valuable insight into the challenges faced by those at risk of homelessness and highlights how you and your business can help to support those experiencing homelessness in our local community.

We are grateful to our partners and speakers for sharing their expertise, and without whom this event would not be possible.

Finally, we thank the Whitechapel Gallery for hosting, and Alba Caffé for catering – all leftover food from the event will be donated to a local foodbank.
