An important update from the City of London Corporation on the St. Paul’s Gyratory Transformation Project.
On Sunday 6 September 2026, a new traffic layout will be introduced on Newgate Street, St. Martin’s Le Grand, Cheapside, New Change, Angel Street, King Edward Street and Montague Street.
Key changes include:
- Newgate Street and St. Martin’s Le Grand are no longer one-way streets and will have traffic moving in both directions - please look both ways when crossing!
- A new bi-directional cycle track on St. Martin’s Le Grand, with a bus stop bypass
- Montague Street is no longer one-way, and traffic will be able to exit the Rotunda to access Little Britain (north)
- Angel Street will be open to all traffic in a westbound direction
- Newgate Street will have cycle lanes and enhanced provision at traffic signals for people cycling
- Crossings in new locations
- Please note, the new crossing on Newgate Street by Queen’s Head Passage will not be available until November 2026
- Bus stops in new locations
- The bus stand on King Edward Street is becoming a bus stop serving St Bart’s Hospital
- The closure of the southern section of King Edward Street to enable construction of the new Greyfriars Square
