Cheapside Business Alliance are excited to partner with local charities to bring free training opportunities to our BID Members.
As part of our partnerships with Bridge Watch and Hestia, local businesses and their staff have the opportunity to join the following training sessions:
Modern Day Slavery Awareness Training
Thursday 30th October | 12:00pm – 1:00pm | TBC (In-person)
Modern slavery is a brutal crime happening on our streets and in every corner of the country. With an estimated 122,000 victims across the UK, it touches every neighbourhood and every community – and demands a community response.
Thanks to our sponsorship of Hestia’s Art is Freedom Exhibition, in place in New Change Garden from 13th – 27th October, Hestia will be providing a free, accredited training on Modern-Day Slavery for frontline professionals and businesses, equipping people to confidently identify Modern-Day Slavery and report it.
Free Suicide Prevention Awareness Training
Friday 14th & Friday 21st November | 9:00am – 11:00am | Online via Zoom
Making sure that those who need support are able to access it in a timely manner is crucial to being able to manage common mental health issues most effectively and before they become more severe.
The City of London Corporation is committed to reducing this tragic and avoidable loss of life through local suicide prevention measures, working in partnership with key stakeholders including Samaritans and the local business community. Local employers play a crucial role in these efforts, for example in supporting their staff to develop skills in approaching someone who is in crisis.
This short, interactive, and practical City-specific Suicide Prevention Awareness session is delivered by Samaritans volunteers, in collaboration with the City’s Suicide Prevention Lead from Public Health. It is aimed at anyone working in a City organisation – including those with responsibility for HR, facilities or security. This session aims to provide the tools to start difficult conversations in a careful and sensitive way.
The session will be delivered online via Zoom.
Speakers:
- Alison Hooper, London Samaritans
- Steph Peckham, London Samaritans
- David Waugh, London Samaritans
- Claire Giraud, City of London Corporation and London Borough of Hackney Public Health Team
