Following our partnership with Huq, a footfall and spend reporting platform, we’re excited to now be able to share Quarterly Reports for the Cheapside area.
These Quarterly Reports includes information on footfall, including average daily, weekly, weekday and weekend footfall, as well as dwell time, demographics, density, spend and much more. In addition to this, the report also includes individual reports for each month within the quarter.
Below is an executive summary of the Q2 report – for more information, and to view the full report, please use the link below the summary:
Footfall and Demographics:
Cheapside welcomed 11.7 million visitors in Q2 2025, with a strong average of nearly 900k weekly visits and weekday footfall peaking at 149k per day. Over the last 12 months, visits climbed to 48.5 million, marking a clear uplift compared to the prior year’s 38.9 million. Weekday activity remains a standout, and the 30–44 age group continues to dominate, significantly above London and national averages.
Visitation and Dwell Time:
London remains Cheapside’s core engine of growth, accounting for 68% of visitors and rising 1.8% year-on-year. Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Thurrock also saw gains, while visitation from other counties stayed broadly steady. Visitor spending power holds firm against national benchmarks, and dwell time reached 144 minutes in Q2 2025, up sharply from 123 minutes in Q2 2024, reflecting deeper engagement and stronger stay durations.
Spend:
Transaction activity remains resilient, with Mastercard Geo Insights showing accounts and frequency at stable levels. Cheapside continues to outperform on international spending, maintaining its appeal to global visitors. Retail categories tell a positive story, with apparel spend surging above the UK average, and dining also performing strongly – cementing Cheapside’s reputation as a hub for shopping and eating out.
