See a replica horse-drawn mail coach as well as historic Royal Mail vans, motorbikes and even a car from the underground Mail Rail network that helped move mail across London in dedicated underground tunnels from 1927 until 2003. The Postal Museum is planning to open a stretch of this unique railway to the public in 2017 and will be at the Guildhall to provide more details.
The Postal Museum will also be hosting walking tours around the area to highlight sites of local postal interest. These will include the site of the first postal buildings in London as well as Postman’s Park.
The mail coach and horses will depart from the historic George Inn, 75 – 77 Borough High Street, SE1 1NH around 11am on Saturday 18 June to travel the one mile to the Guildhall across London Bridge and through the City.
