The Lord Mayor’s Show- 11th November 2017
A spectacular all day event! There are plenty of activities and special exhibitions to enjoy throughout the day, closing with a magnificent firework display.
The Lord Mayor will arrive via a splendid flotilla of traditional Thames barges and small boats, including the famous QRB Gloriana. Tower Bridge opens in salute at 09.25 and the new Lord Mayor alights at HMS President ten minutes later.
The Lord Mayors Procession will commence at 11am from Mansion House following a two minute silence for Remembrance Sunday. The procession is made up of 6500 people, 165 horses, 20 bands and 35 carriages. It pauses at the Royal Courts while the Lord Mayor gives his oath and then returns up the Victoria Embankment at about 1pm. The Lord Mayor will get back to Mansion House just after 2.30pm.
There will be guided walks offered from 3pm to explore the City of London and all it has to offer, including its strange old streets. The walks are easy and free, but we hope you will make a donation to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
The grand finale of the day is the lord Mayors Fireworks, a magnificent display over the Thames. As the launch pad floats in the river between Blackfriars and Waterloo and all the roads in that area are still closed, you are able to walk freely around either bank of the river and find a good spot to enjoy the end of the show.
